FAQs
What skills does each team emphasize?

White Group: provides swimmers with an intro to all four strokes and primarily emphasizes freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers will be introduced to aerobic development through various drills and kicking exercises, all while learning to LOVE the sport.

Red Group: introduces the fundamentals of swimming: technique, balance and coordination in the water, as well as building upon the stroke technique learned in the White Team. The Red Team introduces independence and self-management to swimmers.

Bronze Group (competitive): the goal is to equip all swimmers with a solid foundation in all four strokes while continuing to build athleticism. The team helps swimmers build endurance and provides an introduction to competition.

Silver Group (competitive): uses swimmers's stroke foundations to refine their technique while building core body strength. Dryland training is also introduced at this level. The Silver Team focuses on training and speed development through increased yardage.

Gold Group (competitive): focuses on efficiency, technical precision and increased strength through dryland. Yardage is increased from the Silver Team, aerobic fitness is further emphasized and swimmers are prepared to compete in a wide variety of events.

How do I know what team to sign up my child for?

Assessments can be administered Monday-Thursday from 5:30pm-7pm, no appointment necessary! These assessments typically take 15-20 minutes and at the conclusion of this assessment, one of our coaches will inform you of your child's team placement or recommend swim lessons at our facility to develop their skills so they can join at a later date.

What is your refund policy?

For Swim Team, in general, no refunds will be provided. Refund exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis, due to exceptional circumstances. Refund exceptions are considered and provided at the sole discretion of Biola University Aquatics. When exceptions are made, refunds will be made within two weeks to the credit card charged during the original transaction.

*Refunds will be subject to a 6% processing fee.

Refunds can also be applied as credit towards another full session of swim team. All credits will expire if not used within 6 months.

What is your cancellation policy?

In order to cancel your Biola Eagle Swim Team membership, you are required to notify the Aquatics Office at least 5 days prior to the start of the month to ensure you are not charged for the following month. Cancellations received up to 5 days after the start of the month will be subject to a $10.00 cancellation fee (this fee helps to cover the 6% refund processing fee). Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after the 5th of the month.

What is your inclement weather policy?

Our swim team practices will continue rain or shine. However, if there are signs of thunder and lightning, we must clear the pool for at least 30 minutes after the first sign of lightning. If there is no further occurrence of lightning after the initial clearing of the pool, practice will resume as normal. If we must cancel a practice due to inclement weather, we will notify you via email at the earliest possible time.

What is your late fee policy?

Payment for Swim Team is due each month by the fifth of the month. If registration and payment is not made by the fifth of the month for returning swimmers, you will incur a $10.00 late fee. This late fee can be paid at the time of registration at www.biolacamps.com.

If you are new to our team and joining after the fifth of the month, please contact the Aquatics Office before registering.

Do I have to re-register every month for Swim Team?

Biola Eagle Swim Team now offers recurring payments. Registration for recurring payments starts five days before the beginning of the month and continues until the fifth of the month. If you register for a Biola Eagle Swim Team during this time frame, your authorized payment method will be charged each month automatically on the monthly anniversary of your registration date.

If you register after the fifth of the month, you will not be enrolled in recurring payments. In order to continue swimming with us, you will be required to re-register for the following month within the appropriate timeframe to be enrolled in recurring payments.

Do you offer a staff discount?

All current Biola staff members are eligible to receive a $10.00 monthly discount for our swim team program. This discount is equivalent to $120.00 per year. If you have a valid Biola ID and would like to register for our swim team or water polo programs, please contact the Aquatics office for more details.

Do you prorate for medical issues that occur after the monthly payment has been made?

We understand that injuries and illnesses can occur suddenly. If you find that your child is unable to attend practice due to a medical illness/injury and have already paid your dues by the monthly deadline (5th of the month), we are able to provide a proration of 1 week maximum pending documentation of sickness from a physician. When requesting a proration, please contact the Aquatics office staff at biola.aquatics@biola.edu and attach all documentation of illness/injury to this email.
