What are private lessons designed to do?

Private lessons are designed for anyone who desires one-on-one attention during their lesson. We recommend private lessons to adults who are interested in learning to swim.
Private lessons are mandatory for students under 4 years old.

What is the format of your private lessons?

Private Lessons:
Type: Private Lessons (1:1 ratio)
Days: Monday-Thursday (2 weeks)
Times: 25 minutes; 7:30am-12:30pm & 3pm-7pm
Levels: All Levels
Price: $150/Child

What is the format of your group lessons?

Group Lessons:
Type: Group Lessons (5:1 ratio)
Days: Monday-Thursday (2 weeks)
Times: 25 minutes; 8am-12:30pm & 3pm-5pm
Levels: 1-3
Price: $60/Child*

Levels 1 and 3 will be offered on the hour (8:00,9:00, 10:00, etc.), while level 2 will be offered on the half hour (8:30,9:30, 10:30, etc.)

*All group lessons MUST have a minimum of 3 children enrolled. Lessons that fail to meet this criteria are subject to cancellation. Parents will be notified of lesson cancellation no later than the Wednesday prior to the start of lessons by the Aquatics office staff, at which time they can assist in moving your child to another group lesson time, schedule a private lesson, or cancel your registration.

How do I know what group level to place my child?

If you are unsure what group level to place your child in, we can do an assessment for you. Please bring your child to the pool anytime Monday-Thursday from 3PM-5PM and we will assess your child at no charge.No appointment is necessary!

If your child is not water safe, no assessment is necessary. Please enroll them in Level 1 group lessons or a private lesson.

Do you offer lessons year-round?

The Biola Aquatics programs offers swim lessons every season except for Winter.

In the Summer, we offer both group and private lessons. Both group and private lessons are 25 minutes long and are taught Monday- Thursday for 2 weeks, giving you a total of 8 swim lessons.

In the Fall/ Spring, we offer only private lessons. These lessons are 25 minutes long and are taught in a Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday format for 4 weeks, giving you a total of 8 swim lessons

What is your refund/credit policy?

All refunds are subject to a 6% processing fee.

After the first lesson, partial refunds will be granted (minus the cost of the first lesson and a 6% processing fee). Cancellations and refunds will not be granted following the second lesson and beyond. Refunds can also be applied as a credit towards registration for another full session of swim lessons. All credits expire if not used within 6 months.

Additionally, any group lesson cancellations (on behalf of the student receiving the lesson) requested 1-3 day(s) before the session's scheduled start date, will be granted a 50% refund.

Do you offer a staff discount?

All current Biola staff members are eligible to receive a $15.00 discount on all private lesson sessions and/or a $5 discount on group lessons. If you have a valid Biola ID and would like to register for a private or group swim lesson, please contact the Aquatics office for more details.

What is your inclement weather policy?

Our swim lessons will continue rain or shine. However, if there are signs of thunder and lightning, we must clear the pool for at least 30 minutes after the first sign of lightning. If there is no further occurrence of lightning after the initial clearing of the pool, lessons will resume as normal. If we must cancel a lesson due to inclement weather, we will notify you via email at the earliest possible time.

What happens if we miss a lesson?

Unfortunately, the Aquatics program is unable to offer make-ups lessons for missed classes.

Refunds can only be issued upon the presentation of doctor's note to the Aquatics office staff.
All refunds are subject to a 6% processing fee

If I put in an instructor request will it guarantee that my child will have that instructor?

When scheduling lessons, the administrative staff does take into account the requests made for a specific instructor. We do our best to accommodate these requests, however, we do not guarantee that all requests will be granted.
